The WSIB Mental Health Program of Care is designed to help workers who are experiencing psychological or emotional difficulties related to a workplace injury or workplace events. The goal is to support recovery, improve daily functioning, and help people safely return to work when appropriate.

To participate, the worker must have an active WSIB claim and receive WSIB approval for services.

Services can occur virtually, in clinic, in the community, or sometimes connected to the workplace.
A clinician gathers information about the worker’s concerns, symptoms, work history, and WSIB claim. WSIB then reviews whether the program is appropriate and authorizes assessment and/or treatment.
The clinician completes a mental health assessment that may include:
Treatment is usually delivered in structured “blocks” of care. Each block commonly includes up to 6 sessions over approximately 8 weeks. Progress is reviewed regularly to determine whether additional treatment is needed.

Treatment is intended to be evidence-based, goal-focused, and collaborative.
